Picking The Right Kitchen Table
Nothing completes a kitchen like the right kitchen table. For many people, it is the one piece that dictates what the rest of the room looks like. Finding the right kitchen table might seem relatively easy, but there are a lot of factors to consider when shopping around.
The first thing a person should consider is just how big they want the kitchen table to be. Sometimes, it is up to the individual to pick the right size. In other cases, the size of the room is going to dictate the size of the kitchen table. It would be very difficult to fit a table and chairs that are 10 feet long in a 10 feet by 10 feet kitchen.
The amount of people to eat dinner on a regular basis should also be considered. There needs to be room for everyone at the table in order to have an enjoyable experience. If the kitchen is rather small, going with a roundtable can sometimes allow an extra seat or two. There are ways to get creative, but it is pointless to buy a kitchen table that can’t seat everyone.
Once the size and seat total is determined, the more creative side of things can be focused on. That means looking at colour, style, materials used and more. People are always going to want to use a kitchen table that matches with everything else in the room. There needs to be some type of connection throughout to really look good overall.
Some kitchen tables are going to look great with tablecloths, while others need to just use placemats or nothing at all. There are pros and cons to both options. If a person ends up using a tablecloth, it will essentially block so many nice looking things on the table itself. There is no sense buying a very expensive kitchen table if it is mostly hidden.
On the other side of things, using a tablecloth or placemats will help with durability. There is something to be said for a table holding out for many years. It is an investment for a lot of families, and those with smaller children might be wanting to protect that investment as much as possible.
In the end, it all comes down to personal preference. There is no right or wrong answer when choosing a kitchen table. If it feels right, it might just be what the kitchen needs.
